Tom Brokaw just announced on air that David Gregory is going to take over as host of Meet the Press. I've been hoping against hope that that wasn't going to happen but all signs pointed to it so it's really not a surprise but it sure is a disappointment.
He is so pro-Republican that I'm sure Obama and his new government aren't going to get any positive reviews. Plus he's such a stick in the mud I can't imagine him encouraging any lively debate about the issues of the day (not that Brokaw did either during his short term). It would have been nice if they had gone for someone who wasn't a Washington insider too.
I really had hoped that a bright, knowledgeable (of things other than Repub talking points), new thinker type of person was going to be named. The NBC brass has long favored Gregory though so I guess it was inevitable.
On a brighter note, Barack Obama was certainly impressive, as usual, in his interview. Although he looked drawn and very tired, he is so intelligent and speaks so eloquently that the 45 minutes flew by. I could listen to him talk for hours. What a treat it's going to be to have him in the white house for the next eight years.
